Phishing awareness for small teams
Most breaches start with a message someone believed. Awareness is not shame; it is pattern recognition plus easy reporting paths.
Signals that deserve a pause
Urgent wire transfers, password resets you did not request, mismatched sender domains, and links that hop through trackers. Slow down, use a second channel to verify, and prefer typed URLs for sensitive portals. OWASP phishing guidance is vendor-neutral and concise: OWASP phishing.
Lightweight policy
Use MFA everywhere it is supported, separate admin accounts from daily mail, and keep backups offline per backup hygiene. For software choices that affect exposure, see commercial vs open source tradeoffs.
